Conor McGregor and UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov faced punishment from the Nevada Athletic Commission (NAC) on Tuesday for their respective roles in the melee following their fight at UFC 229 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. The NAC fined McGregor $50,000 and suspended him six months retroactive to the day of their fight. Nurmagomedov was fined a whopping $500,000 and given a nine-month suspension, but that can be reduced to six if he does a NAC-approved anti-bullying PSA. The suspensions aren’t a problem, but the fines are and so is the NAC’s declaration that speech from fighters should be curtailed.
